Albatross was one of those ideas that never quite came to fruition.

For years, my good friend Jocylyn Engstrom and I had been working on a video game with the working title 'Albatross.' It was the story of Elijah and his search for meaning and retribution. When a ship taking him to the United States capsizes in a fire, Elijah must survive in the open sea, battling the elements, sirens and sea monsters, Lust, Vice and Apathy. As Elijah battles these monsters, building a small boat along the way, the true story of what happened to his ship unravels.

Between writing the script, drawing and developing the game, as well as personal, school and work lives, the game was put on an indefinite hiatus. I fell in love with the idea of the game, however. I saw its imagery and poetry, and I began writing music for it almost immediately, starting with "The Theme of Albatross." The music came like a darkly wave, and I wrote a handful of songs for Jocylyn's beautiful idea.

The six songs presented on this album capture the mood and atmosphere of Albatross and hopefully helps paint the picture of the world we envisioned in our heads for so long.
